This unfiltered recording, to me, represents everything that has been challenging about the past year and the beauty that still exists when we safely extend ourselves toward each other in its wake. It is also a document of what improvisation means to me on a holistic level - meeting for the first time, immediately getting to know one another by moving air around in a space (my garage), and finding a friend to know and grow with - now & beyond. To Adam - thank you for reaching out to play with me last October. To Brian - thank you for amplifying & beautifying our garage sounds with your ears and skills. To you, the listener - thank you, I hope that hearing these musical conversations might be as uplifting as it was to engage in them. - Andrew Trim
These recordings with Andrew represent everything I find to be at the heart of free improvisation. To approach any situation with an intuitive open-ended-ness that allows for dialogue based in compassion, trust, acceptance, invention, and humility is no easy task, but it is the task Andrew and I took on. Playing in a first meeting context with Andrew was joyful, bittersweet, and exhilarating while allowing for the creation of an intimate growth oriented understanding of each other through our respective, and now shared, musical language. I believe these recordings are a fine document of two people who are just meeting, who then proceed to move air around a room, looking for a way to most fully realize connection. - Adam Shead
